Backbends

Backbends open the heart chakra, build courage and increase stamina. If done correctly, backbends help increase the extension of the spine which contributes to a healthy back. It also increases mobility in the spine and combats the constant effects of gravity that pulls us forward. Backbends help increase the normal curve of the spine which can be lost due to poor posture, frequent forward bending or sitting.
